New Sign at Creek Rd & West Dorsey
Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Hyde Park Soccer is very appreciative to have benefited from the Eagle Scout project of one of our players and referees, Lucas Carey.  He took on a beautification project to replace the sign located at the intersection of Creek Rd and West Dorsey.  He coordinated the effort with the Hyde Park Little League, Hyde Park Soccer, Hyde Park Central Schools and the Town of Hyde Park.  He organized the donation of materials from Adam's fencing and built a crew of volunteers to complete the installation.  The sign is an excellent demonstration of our league pride and a nice tribute to the 40+ year history of our organization.  Thank you Lucas for your hard work and excellent results!

Heads up: Concussion in Youth Sports
Thursday, September 11, 2014

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.  All coaches are now required to gain certification in recognizing the symptoms of concussions in youth sports.  The CDC has provided excellent information to help parents, players and coaches recognize the severity of this common injury.

New Elementary Division Structure
Thursday, August 14, 2014

As our program has grown we are fortunate to be able to restructure our elementary division to better focus the age groups on development.  We are introducing an Early, Middle and Late Elementary division structure.

Early Elementary will serve as a tranisition to the bigger field for 1st graders.  They will use the season to get used to a referee on the field and to adjust a larger number of players on the field.  This will remain a Saturday only commitment with a training session prior to the game each week (similar to their PeeWee experience).  Middle Elementary will be for 2nd and 3rd grade players and will introduce a mid week practice.  Late Elementary will be for 4th and 5th grade players and will introduce additional soccer rules such as offsides.

We are excited about this structure as it narrows the range of ages in each division and will set up a strong development environment for all players involved.

Goal Keeper Clinic - Fall 2014
Sunday, July 06, 2014

We were all inspired by Tim Howard's performance for the USA in the world cup.  He possesses world class skills and demonstrated the criticality of the goal keeper position.  He also taught us that goal keeping is much more than blocking shots with your hand, it requires strong foot skills, field awareness and leadership.

The Hyde Park Soccer league will be offering a Goal Keeper Clinic for the Fall season.  Certified Goal Keeper trainer, Coach Tom Gabel, will run the weekly clinic on Monday nights.  This is a great opportunity to receive focused skill training at a critical position on the field.  Registration is open to all recreation and travel level players.

Click on the REGISTRATION button on the right side of the website.  You will find an option for Goal Keeper Clinic Fall 2014.  The cost of the clinic is $80 for 10 sessions.  A 50% discount ($40) will be offered for all registered Hyde Park Soccer Players (travel or rec).  The first training session will be held on Monday, August 25th to prepare the players for the upcoming season.
